HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEANNA...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEANNA. I LOVE YOU & MISS YOU TERRIBLY.

Deanna Dawn... best friend, mountain lion researcher, ambassador to the animals, and... my hero.
Today would have been her 52nd birthday. In her honor, my pup Wiley and I went for an early morning hike up to Monkey face. I watched the sun rise while enjoying Deanna's classic Field Biologist's Breakfast - Fuji apple with almond butter.

Today I will honor my best friend's birthday by doing many of the things she would want me to do. The list is long and includes driving to Grass Valley to visit her best canine companion, Cassie. But before my journey, I will make a contribution to Wild Felid & Research Management Association (WFA). WFA is a non-profit organization dedicated to wild felid (cat) conservation that MY Deanna helped spearhead - very proud of my girl!  You can visit their website to learn more about wild felid conservation or make a donation to WILD FELID LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP.

WFA MISSION:
"To promote the sound management, conservation, and restoration, where necessary, of wild felids in the Western Hemisphere through science-based management and education. Our intention is to openly share knowledge and expertise by facilitating relationships with and among government entities, non-governmental organizations, universities, and other interested parties."

IS GLYCOLIC GOOD FOR ACNE...

TREATMENT FOR CYSTIC ACNE SACRAMENTO, CA      916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Gylcolic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid that functions to slough surface cells from the skin. Glycolic acid is an ingredient commonly used in chemical peels as well as anti-aging and acne skincare products. Exfoliating the skin with glycolic acid can help decongest the pores, smooth texture, even skin tone and control oil.

Glycolic acid is a smaller molecule than other alpha-hydroxy acids, which allows it to penetrate the skin quicker and deeper. For some people, this action can result in irritated skin. For this reason, glycolic is not for everyone, but don't worry, there are a variety of exfoliating serums (hydroxy acids) that offer the same results.

Typically, those with sensitive skin and a fair complexion do not respond well to glycolic, but this can be a coin toss. There are some individuals who have sensitive skin, but tolerate glycolic well.  On the opposite side of the spectrum, there are those who consider themselves to have thick, tough, nonsensitive skin that are extremely reactive to glycolic acid.

TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE USING AN ACNE SERUM THAT WILL GET RID OF YOUR ACNE AND GIVE YOU THE ADDITIONAL PERKS YOU WANT, VISIT AN ACNE SKINCARE SPECIALIST FOR SENSITIVITY TESTING.

Berries! For most of us, this doesn't count as a "special treat," but it will help satisfy your sweet tooth while supplying your body with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

Popcorn may be a little more emotionally satisfying. Pop it the old fashioned way, meaning on the stove, and top with melted organic butter, olive oil and lemon - misted on with a spray bottle.

PINEAPPLE OVER PIMPLES...

HOW TO PREVENT PIMPLES CHICO    916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

What is the common factor in all acne diets? Yes, anti-inflammatory foods! Typically, this refers to fruits and vegetables, but not all fruits are anti-inflammatory, and there are some, that have greater anti-inflammatory properties than others. Pineapple is one of the top anti-inflammatory fruits and has a host of other health benefits.

In people with acne and other skin disorders, the health of the gut often dictates the health of the skin. Bromelain is a digestive enzyme found in pineapple, which helps breakdown protein and aids in healthy digestion. Pineapple has a high Glycemic Index so eat it in small quantities. Always choose whole fresh or frozen pineapple to maximize the nutritional benefits.

SUCCESSFULLY TREATING INFLAMED PIMPLES RELIES HEAVILY ON A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO TREATMENT.  WITH THE EXPERTISE OF AN ACNE SPECIALIST, YOU CAN HAVE CLEAR SKIN IN JUST 3 TO 4 MONTHS. CONSULTATIONS: (530)503.9169

CUSTOMIZED ACNE SKINCARE IN CHICO, CA

"My name is Tatja, and I am a Medical Skin Care Practitioner at 916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC in Chico.  This gives me the added advantage of having cutting edge skin care products at my finger tips.  I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and I'm dry everywhere else. I just turned 46, and over the past couple of years, I have noticed the estrogen drain right out of my cells! The skin around my eyes, and on my neck and chest, were becoming dry and crepey. Fine lines seemed to appear over night. My skin is prone to redness, has a tendency towards brown spots and deep pimples along my outer cheeks. I use medical grade anti-aging products, because in my experience, they are the only class of skin care products that transform the skin. Medical grade skin care products have restored my skin's moisture dramatically, evened out skin tone and smoothed my skin's texture - including the fine lines. The lines are still there, they're just not as deep."

MY DAILY SKINCARE REGIME FOR COMBINATION SKIN:
AM ROUTINE: Gentle gel cleanser, hydrating lactic toner, exfoliating serum (15% lactic acid), 15% L-ascorbic acid, eye treatment, water-based moisturizer, broad spectrum sunscreen (9% zinc oxide, 7% titanium dioxide).

PM ROUTINE: Gentle gel cleanser, hydrating lactic toner, 15% L-ascorbic acid, retinoid 0.05%, hydroquinone 4% (winter only), eye treatment,  water-based moisturizer.

"Keeping my skin clear, fresh and vibrant these days takes a little bit of work. So yes, there are a lot of steps in my daily skincare routine, but it's worth it!"

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A SKINCARE SYSTEM CUSTOMIZED FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE OR ACNE TYPE, PLEASE CALL 916SKIN -  ACNE CLINIC.  (530) 503.9169.

DOES SALT MAKE ACNE WORSE...

CONTROL ACNE FLARE-UPS CHICO      916SKIN- ACNE CLINIC

The iodide found in table salt (NaCl) is a well known trigger for many acne sufferers out there. This is largely due to the high sodium content found in sodas, juices, energy drinks and processed foods. While iodide is an important electrolyte required by the body to function efficiently, too much iodide can be harmful. With the addition of many high sodium foods and drinks in our diet, it's become easy to consume too much salt, which can lead to a host of physiological imbalances.

Conversely, there are individuals who actually benefit from excess salt. In regard to the acne sufferer, these are typically the people with adrenal insufficiency otherwise known as adrenal fatigue. This condition often results from long term stress, but can also develop as a result of acute stress brought on by a major life event such as divorce, death, bankruptcy, surgery or pneumonia.  The acne sufferer with adrenal insufficiency often benefits from additional salt, but not the type associated with junk and processed foods and drinks. Adrenal fatigue benefits from mineral rich sea salt.

OUR DERMATOLOGY BASED ACNE THERAPY PROGRAM GETS RID OF ACNE IN 12 TO 16 WEEKS. TO HAVE A PERSONALIZED ACNE SKIN CARE SYSTEM DEVELOPED JUST FOR YOU, PLEASE CALL & SCHEDULE A SKIN EVALUATION.  (530) 503.9169

HEALING ACNE WITH HOT SPRINGS...

ACNE REMEDIES CHICO, CA      916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

If you ever have the opportunity to visit a hot spring - do!
Hot springs can help heal acne, eczema, psoriasis, and several other dermatologic conditions.

Hot springs cleanse and beautify the body and the skin by stimulating blood, lymphatic and enzymatic activity. Having over 100 perspiration glands per square millimeter of skin, allows the pores to eliminate approximately 30% of our bodies toxins and internal waste products. This process of perspiring is not only important for overall health, but helps heal the skin. Hot springs work to pull out fat-soluble toxins while the body absorbs the many health benefits of the sulfur-rich water from hot springs.
