ACNE AND CHOCOLATE CRAVINGS...

TREATMENT FOR BLEMISHES CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Cravings for chocolate around the the time of your menses is your body's cry for magnesium. Chocolate does not trigger breakouts, but any sugar withing the chocolate will. If you are prone to acne breakouts, reach for, at least, the 70% dark chocolate. Instead of wolfing down the entire bar, limit yourself to a couple of squares. If you have the option, unalkalized is always preferable to alkalized chocolate.

SKIN CARE ROUTINE ON ROAD TRIPS...

SKIN CARE TREATMENTS FOR ACNE CHICO, CA        916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

I'm on a 10 day road trip up the Oregon coast - camping. Camping in my situation means living out of my van, often staying in remote places with no running water. Day 8 offered the luxury of a Safeway parking lot, which provides access to clean restrooms 24/7. I emphasize "luxury" because it's the only opportunity I've had to wash my face with ahhhhhh - warm water.

A successful acne regimen is dependent upon consistency - consistently doing your skincare regimen every morning and every night. This presents many challenges when you're camping or on a road trip. Especially if it's cold. Just know, if you don't stick to your routine - you will notice changes in your skin texture almost immediately and you will likely experience breakouts.

TIPS:
- If you refuse to wash your face, use your toner repeatedly until the cotton round is clean. Ten times if that's what it takes.

- Use your actives. At the very minimum use your exfoliating serum (salicylic, mandelic or glycolic acid).

- Ease up on the topical vitamin A (retinoid, renova, tretinoin, etc.), using it every other night or every third night if you are getting more sun exposure than usual.

- Apply your sunscreen fanatically, every hour if necessary as sun exposure will likely increase your chances of PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). This refers to red or brown spots left on the skin after a pimple heals.

HAVING AN ACNE SPECIALIST AT YOUR FINGER TIPS CAN HELP YOU GET CLEAR AND STAY CLEAR. FOR A PRELIMINARY CONSULTATION CALL: (530) 503.9169

COFFEE ON YOUR ROAD TRIP...

HELP FOR ACNE IN EL DORADO, CA        916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Who can resist a coffee when they're on a road trip?
I like to use the word "a" in front of "coffee" because it helps describe a delightful ritual in which to anticipate and savor. But be warned, this heavenly ritualistic delight does cause acne flare-ups. The acne trigger is 3 fold. Caffeine. Dairy. Sugar. If you're going to have a coffee, learn to love it black and decaffeinated. Or with stevia. The other option is a soy milk or almond milk latte with no syrups, sugar or honey. Your adrenal glands and skin will thank you!

ACNE ADVICE, DIETS AND TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE AT 916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC. WE CAN HELP YOU GET CLEAR IN A MATTER OF WEEKS. (530) 503.9169

HARDEST TYPE OF ACNE TO TREAT...

TYPES OF ACNE TREATMENT CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Non-inflamed acne, although not as visible, is the most difficult type of acne to treat. Non-inflamed acne, specifically, Grade II acne, consists of blackheads, whiteheads and small pustules. Although Grade II is generally classified as non-inflamed acne, the beginning stages of inflammation may be present on the lesions. Grade II acne makes the skin feel bumpy and grainy. This type of acne requires massive exfoliation in the form of hydroxy acids and other professional peeling agents. Clearing non-inflamed acne typically takes 3 to 4 months. However, with the proper systems in place and a lot of patience, you WILL get clear.

ACNE CARE IS AVAILABLE AT 916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC. WE TREAT ALL TYPES OF ACNE INCLUDING SEVERE CYSTIC ACNE WITHOUT THE USE OF PRESCRIPTION ACNE MEDICATIONS.

FOLATE DEFICIENCY...

NATURAL ACNE REMEDIES OROVILLE, CA     916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Do you have a folate deficiency?
Dark brown spots on the skin can be the result of a folate deficiency. Most common areas are the palms and soles of the feet. Once your folate levels return to normal, the dark patches should disappear in 2 to 3 months or less. Folic acid is the synthetic compound found in many nutritional supplements. Problem is, some people can't metabolize the synthetic version and end up with a deficiency. If you think this might be the case, eating foods rich in folate is generally the best solution, or take a nutritional supplement derived from tetrahydrofolate.

SUNSCREEN OVER MAKEUP...

BEST MAKEUP FOR ACNE CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

From time to time, we hear patients express their concern about applying sunscreen over makeup. There seems to be a shared belief that putting sunscreen over the top of makeup will push the make up down into the pores - causing them to become clogged. As long as you are using a noncomedogenic makeup, this need not be a concern. Layering sunscreen over makeup will not clog your pores. However, take your makeup to an acne specialist to verify the product is truly noncomedogenic, as many over-the-counter makeups give false claims about the comedogenicity.

TO HAVE YOUR MAKEUP CHECKED FOR PORE CLOGGING INGREDIENTS OR TO GET STARTED WITH ACNE THERAPY, CALL TO SCHEDULE YOUR CONSULTATION. (530) 503.9169

CATS CAUSING MY BREAKOUTS..

PREVENT BREAKOUTS CHICO, CA       916SKIN - ACNE CLINIC

Any type of stress can trigger an acne breakout. This includes stress to the immune system such as allergies to food, pollen, grass and even cats.  If you are genetically predisposed to acne, certain triggers can lead to breakouts. These triggers are different for each person. Even if your cats are an acne trigger, chances are there are other things in your daily life that are contributing to your problem skin, and it's more of an accumulative affect, than the cats alone. So, before you kick your kitties to the curb, consider consulting an acne specialist to find out what other factors could be influencing your skin.
